Aries Spears in Birmingham

Aries Spears is an American stand-up comedian, actor and writer, born in Manhattan in 1975. He is best known for his long run as a cast member on MADtv, where celebrity impressions became a central part of his work. His recorded stand-up includes the specials Hollywood, Look I’m Smiling and Comedy Blueprint. Early in his career, Spears performed at Harlem’s Uptown Comedy Club and appeared on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, followed by Showtime at the Apollo. He later built his live work around headline dates at comedy clubs, presenting solo stand-up that combines personal and social observations with impressions of performers and public figures, including Jay-Z and Denzel Washington.
