Arkona is a Russian folk-metal band formed in Moscow in 2002 by vocalist Maria “Masha Scream” Arkhipova. The group plays heavy metal shaped by Slavic folklore, pagan themes and traditional instruments; its best-known works include the albums Vozrozhdenie and Goi, Rode, Goi!, as well as the songs “Yarilo” and “Stenka na Stenku.” Arkona joined the Paganfest touring package for dates across Europe, then toured extensively in Europe and North America. The band performed at Hellfest and Brutal Assault, and its festival history also includes Wacken Open Air.
