About Atul Purohit
Atul Purohit is an Indian singer and musician from Gujarat whose repertoire centres on Gujarati garba, folk music and bhajans. He formed the group Rutambara in 1983 and is known for songs including “Tara Vina Shyam” and “Vhalam Ni Vaat Kai.”
The United Way of Baroda Garba in Vadodara has been a central part of his performance history during Navratri, where he leads an ensemble through successive nights of communal dance music. His concerts pair lead vocals with live percussion and traditional garba rhythms. He has also performed for Gujarati communities at Navratri events in the United States and the United Kingdom.
