The Rare Occasions are an American indie-rock band formed in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2012 and later based in Los Angeles. Their best-known song is “Notion,” first released in 2016 and discovered by a much wider audience several years later. Their albums include Into the Shallows, Big Whoop and Through Moonshot Eyes. In 2022, The Rare Occasions played a North American headline run following the renewed attention around “Notion.” They returned to clubs across the continent in 2024 on the Through Moonshot Eyes Tour.
