About Ayreon
Ayreon is a progressive rock and metal project created by Dutch multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Arjen Anthony Lucassen. The project debuted in 1995 with The Final Experiment and became known for science-fiction rock operas performed by large casts of guest singers and musicians. Its central works include Into the Electric Castle, The Human Equation, 01011001 and The Source.
The Human Equation was staged as The Theater Equation at Nieuwe Luxor Theater in 2015, the first full theatrical production based on Ayreon’s music. Ayreon Universe followed at 013 in 2017 and drew material from across the catalogue. The project returned to the venue for Electric Castle Live and Other Tales in 2019 and 01011001: Live Beneath the Waves in 2023.
Rotterdam hosted the first theatrical staging, while Tilburg became the setting for the later concert productions.
