BABYMETAL is a Japanese metal group formed in 2010 as a subunit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. Their kawaii metal style pairs heavy riffs with J-pop melodies and choreography; songs including “Gimme Chocolate!!,” “Megitsune” and “KARATE” helped establish the sound across the albums BABYMETAL, Metal Resistance and Metal Galaxy. The group made its UK debut on the main stage at Sonisphere Festival in 2014. Two years later, BABYMETAL headlined Wembley Arena, and the Metal Galaxy World Tour brought them to The Forum near Los Angeles in 2019. The concert lineup centers on Su-metal’s lead vocals, Moametal and Momometal’s vocals and choreography, and accompaniment by the Kami Band. They played the Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2019 and have returned several times to Download Festival at Donington Park.
