Artists
Bahamas is the stage name of Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist Afie Jurvanen, who was born in Toronto and raised in Barrie, Ontario. His music draws on indie folk, soft rock and soul, and his catalogue includes the albums Pink Strat, Barchords, Bahamas Is Afie and Earthtones. “Lost in the Light,” “All the Time” and “Stronger Than That” are among his best-known songs. Before releasing music as Bahamas, Jurvanen toured as a guitarist with Feist. He later brought the project to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and played a hometown concert recorded for Live at Massey Hall.
Mariel Buckley is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Calgary whose music draws on country, Americana and folk. Her catalogue includes the albums Motorhome, Driving in the Dark and Everywhere I Used to Be, as well as songs such as “Neon Blue” and “Driving Around.” Calgary Folk Music Festival and Edmonton Folk Music Festival have both presented Mariel Buckley, connecting her live work to the Canadian roots circuit. She has also performed at AmericanaFest in Nashville, taking the same song-led repertoire to an international roots-music showcase.
