About Banda Eva
Banda Eva is a Brazilian axé band formed in Salvador in 1977. Closely tied to Bahia’s Carnival tradition, the group has featured singers including Daniela Mercury, Ivete Sangalo and Saulo Fernandes. Its best-known repertoire includes “Beleza Rara,” “Arerê,” “Levada Louca” and its version of “Eva.”
During Carnival seasons, Banda Eva performed from a trio elétrico for Bloco Eva, the carnival association from which the group emerged. The 1997 album Banda Eva Ao Vivo documented the Ivete Sangalo lineup, while Saulo Fernandes later fronted the group through further carnival and micareta performances.
Away from its home carnival, Banda Eva took its trio elétrico show to Fortaleza for Fortal and to Natal for Carnatal.
