Banda Maguey in Parker

Banda Maguey is a Mexican technobanda group formed in Villa Corona, Jalisco, in 1991. Part of the technobanda and quebradita movement, the group plays dance-oriented regional Mexican music led by brass, keyboards and percussion. Its best-known songs include “Tumbando Caña,” “Eva María,” “Si Tú No Estás” and “El Alacrán.” During the 1990s, Banda Maguey built its live reputation at bailes and fairs as quebradita attracted large dance audiences. The full ensemble performs the group’s hits in dance-focused sets, a format reflected in its nickname, La Estrella de los Bailes. The group has also presented that repertoire at regional Mexican events in the United States.
