Beirut is an American indie-folk and chamber-pop project led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zach Condon. The debut album, Gulag Orkestar, established a sound built around brass, accordion and strings and produced “Postcards from Italy”; later releases brought songs including “Elephant Gun” and “Nantes.” In 2007, Beirut performed at Coachella in California and Glastonbury in England as Condon’s recording project developed into a touring ensemble. Following The Rip Tide, the band played Primavera Sound in Barcelona in 2012.
