Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals is an American roots-rock band built around California singer-songwriter and guitarist Ben Harper. The group draws on folk, blues, soul and rock, pairing Harper’s vocals with his lap-steel guitar. Its catalogue includes “Burn One Down” and “Steal My Kisses,” as well as the albums Burn to Shine, Lifeline and Call It What It Is. Live from Mars, released in 2001, documented the band’s 2000 tour through electric ensemble performances and solo acoustic material. Ben Harper And The Innocent Criminals later toured behind Lifeline before a period apart, then reunited in 2015 for four concerts at The Fillmore in San Francisco.
