About Benjamin Jephta

Benjamin Jephta is a South African bassist and composer from Cape Town who plays contemporary jazz shaped by local musical traditions, hip-hop and electronic production. His albums include Homecoming, Evolution of an Undefined and Born Coloured, not Born-Free; he also received the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz.

Benjamin Jephta has performed as a bandleader at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, presenting his compositions in an ensemble setting. He has also brought his own projects to Standard Bank Joy of Jazz in Johannesburg.
