Les Siècles is a French orchestra founded in 2003 by conductor François-Xavier Roth. It performs repertoire ranging from the Baroque era to the 20th century on instruments appropriate to each work’s period, and is known for recordings of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and The Firebird, Debussy’s Jeux and music by Ravel. In 2013, Les Siècles marked the centenary of The Rite of Spring at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, where the ballet had received its premiere, using instruments from the work’s period. The orchestra has since brought its historically informed programmes to the BBC Proms in London and the Philharmonie de Paris.
