Beth Gibbons is an English singer-songwriter, born in Exeter in 1965, and the lead vocalist of the Bristol band Portishead. She is known for her performances on the trip-hop album Dummy and songs including “Sour Times,” “Glory Box” and “Roads.” Her work outside the group includes Out of Season, recorded with Rustin Man, and her first solo album, Lives Outgrown. At New York’s Roseland Ballroom in 1997, she fronted Portishead in an orchestral concert later released as Roseland NYC Live. In 2014, she sang Henryk Górecki’s Symphony No. 3 in Warsaw with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra under Krzysztof Penderecki. Her 2024 solo tour presented Lives Outgrown with a live ensemble and included Glastonbury Festival.
