About Big Sam's Funky Nation
Big Sam's Funky Nation is an American funk band formed in New Orleans by trombonist and vocalist Big Sam Williams, a former member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. It plays brass-heavy funk with rock and jazz elements and is known for “Funky Donkey” and the albums King of the Party, Evolution and Songs in the Key of Funk, Vol. 1.
Big Sam's Funky Nation has performed at Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits Music Festival during its US touring history. In its home city, it has returned for appearances at Jazz Fest and French Quarter Festival.
Big Sam Williams leads the full-band set on trombone and vocals, supported by trumpet, guitar, bass and drums.
