Bill Callahan is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his low baritone, spare folk-rock arrangements and sharply observed lyrics. He first built his catalogue under the name Smog before recording under his own name, and his best-known work includes the albums Knock Knock, Apocalypse and Dream River, as well as the song “Dress Sexy at My Funeral.” A 2007 performance at The Toff in Town in Melbourne was recorded for the live album Rough Travel for a Rare Thing. Footage from his 2011 tour became Apocalypse: A Bill Callahan Tour Film, directed by Hanly Banks.
