Björn Meyer in Hamburg

Björn Meyer is a Swedish bassist and composer, born in Stockholm in 1965 and based in Switzerland. Known for his six-string electric bass, he has recorded with Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin and oud player Anouar Brahem. His ECM solo album Provenance is built entirely around the bass. Meyer spent more than a decade performing internationally as a member of Ronin. He also toured in Anouar Brahem’s quartet, whose recordings include The Astounding Eyes of Rita and Souvenance, before presenting music from Provenance in solo concerts. Solo performances place Björn Meyer alone on six-string electric bass, using its melodic, harmonic and percussive range.
