About Black Dyke Band
Black Dyke Band is a British brass band founded in 1855 in Queensbury, West Yorkshire, by the owners of Black Dyke Mills. Its contest record includes victories at the National Brass Band Championships and the European Brass Band Championships, while its recording history ranges across traditional and contemporary brass repertoire. Under the name Black Dyke Mills Band, it also recorded the Paul McCartney composition “Thingumybob.”
The band has repeatedly performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the National Brass Band Championships and at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, for the British Open. Its concert work has reached well beyond Yorkshire through international tours, including appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Sydney Opera House.
