Black Oak Arkansas in West Hollywood

Black Oak Arkansas is an American southern-rock band formed in Black Oak, Arkansas, in 1963, initially under the name The Knowbody Else. Fronted by Jim “Dandy” Mangrum, the group is known for the albums Black Oak Arkansas and High on the Hog, as well as songs including “Hot and Nasty” and its version of “Jim Dandy,” recorded with Ruby Starr. The 1973 album Raunch ’N’ Roll Live documented the band’s early touring period. In 1974, Black Oak Arkansas performed at California Jam at Ontario Motor Speedway, and later that year the group appeared at England’s Reading Festival.
