About Black Sun Empire
Black Sun Empire are a Dutch drum-and-bass group formed in Utrecht in 1997 by Micha Heyboer, Milan Heyboer and Rene Verdult. Their dark, technical neurofunk is represented by tracks such as “Arrakis” and albums including Driving Insane, Cruel & Unusual and From the Shadows.
In 2003, the group established the Blackout club night at Tivoli in Utrecht, building it around harder strains of drum and bass. Blackout later developed into an international event series, while Black Sun Empire performed DJ sets at major bass-music gatherings including Let It Roll and Rampage.
