Brian Owens is an American soul singer and songwriter from Ferguson, Missouri, whose music draws on classic R&B, funk and gospel. His albums include Moods & Messages and Soul of Cash, a collection centered on songs associated with Johnny Cash. He is also known for singing Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” with his father, Thomas Owens.

Brian Owens spent part of his early performing career as a vocalist in the U.S. Air Force band Sidewinder, singing for service members during overseas deployments. The group’s live work later took him to the White House for a performance attended by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
