Butcher Brown is an American quintet formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 2009. The group plays instrumental jazz-funk shaped by soul and hip-hop, and its catalog includes the albums #KingButch, Butcher Brown Presents Triple Trey and Solar Music. In 2020, the group recorded an NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, presenting its core lineup of drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and horns. Butcher Brown has since carried that five-piece format into club dates and festival performances, including the Newport Jazz Festival and Monterey Jazz Festival.
