Chapterhouse are an English shoegaze band formed in Reading in 1987. Their layered guitar sound is captured on the debut album Whirlpool, which includes “Pearl” and “Mesmerise”; they followed it with Blood Music. Chapterhouse supported Spacemen 3 during their early live years before disbanding in the 1990s. They reunited for a 2008 appearance at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts at the invitation of Ulrich Schnauss, then played reunion dates in North America and Japan that included a show at Scala in London.
