Charles Esten in Pittsburgh

Charles Esten is an American country singer-songwriter and actor, born in Pittsburgh in 1965. He is known for playing Deacon Claybourne in the television drama Nashville and performing songs from its soundtrack, including “No One Will Ever Love You.” His own releases include the Every Single Friday series and the album Love Ain’t Pretty. Esten toured with fellow Nashville cast members after the series developed a concert life beyond television, performing at venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall. His solo shows draw on his original country material and songs associated with Deacon Claybourne, while repeated appearances at the Grand Ole Opry have kept his live work closely connected to Nashville.
