About Choir! Choir! Choir!
Choir! Choir! Choir! is a Canadian participatory singing project founded in Toronto in 2011 by Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman. The pair became known for teaching large groups original vocal arrangements of pop and rock songs, then filming the resulting performances for videos including “Hallelujah” and “Heroes.”
In 2016, the project brought Rufus Wainwright and a public choir together for “Hallelujah” at the Hearn Generating Station. Two years later, David Byrne joined the singers for David Bowie’s “Heroes” at the Public Theater in New York, extending the project’s communal format beyond its hometown gatherings.
Participants learn the arrangement during the event, divide into vocal sections and record the complete song as a group. The same format shaped a filmed performance of “Never Gonna Give You Up” with Rick Astley at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
