Con Funk Shun in Oakland

Con Funk Shun is an American funk and R&B band formed in Vallejo, California, in 1969. Its horn-driven dance records and slow jams include “Ffun,” “Chase Me,” “Got to Be Enough” and “Love’s Train,” while albums such as Secrets and Candy established the group’s core sound. In the early 1970s, the group moved to Memphis and worked as the touring and studio backing band for the Stax vocal group the Soul Children. After disbanding in the 1980s, Con Funk Shun reunited in the 1990s and returned to R&B package concerts and festival stages; Michael Cooper and Felton Pilate were among the founding members who took part in that reunion.
