Artist
corto.alto is a Scottish jazz project led by Glasgow trombonist, composer and producer Liam Shortall. The group plays contemporary ensemble jazz shaped by hip-hop rhythms and electronic production. Its debut album, Bad with Names, was shortlisted for the 2024 Mercury Prize. corto.alto presented the Live from 435 series in 2020, recording ensemble performances in Shortall’s flat. The project subsequently became a touring band and, following the album’s release, performed at Glastonbury Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival in 2024.
