Avey Tare in New Orleans

Avey Tare is the stage name of David Portner, an American songwriter and musician born in Baltimore in 1979. He co-founded Animal Collective and became known as one of the group’s principal singers and songwriters. His solo records explore experimental psychedelic pop and electronic music, including Down There, Eucalyptus, Cows on Hourglass Pond and 7s. In 2014, Avey Tare toured with Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks, a trio formed with Angel Deradoorian and drummer Jeremy Hyman following the release of Enter the Slasher House. He later played solo dates connected to Eucalyptus and toured behind Cows on Hourglass Pond in 2019. In 2023 he returned to North American clubs behind 7s, performing with Jeremy Hyman and Adam McDaniel.
