Daikaiju in Brooklyn

Daikaiju is an American instrumental surf-rock band formed in Alabama in 1999. The group draws its name and imagery from Japanese giant-monster cinema, pairing fast, reverb-heavy guitar music with masks and kaiju-themed titles. Its principal recordings include the albums “Daikaiju,” “Phase 2” and “Phase 3.” Daikaiju took its masked show through independent clubs on repeated DIY tours. Performances commonly move the drum kit into the audience, and the band has played around flaming cymbals while delivering its guitar-led instrumentals. That live history began in Huntsville.
