Artist
Dal:um is a South Korean instrumental duo formed in Seoul in 2018 by gayageum player Ha Suyean and geomungo player Hwang Hyeyoung. The group creates contemporary music from the contrasting tones and playing techniques of these two traditional Korean zithers. Its debut album, Similar & Different, introduced the duo’s tightly interlocking compositions. In 2021, Dal:um performed an official showcase at WOMEX in Porto, bringing its two-instrument format to an international festival audience. The duo later took that repertoire to Australia for a performance at WOMADelaide.
