Dark Star Orchestra in Fort Lauderdale

Dark Star Orchestra is an American rock band formed in Chicago in 1997 to perform the music of the Grateful Dead. The group is known for recreating complete concerts from the Dead’s history, preserving the original set lists and arrangements, and for assembling its own programs from a repertoire that includes “Dark Star,” “Truckin’” and “Scarlet Begonias.” The band played its first show at Martyrs’ in 1997 and developed an extensive theatre and amphitheatre schedule. In 2012, it launched the annual Dark Star Jubilee at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. Its 2018 debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre reconstructed the concert performed there by the Grateful Dead on July 8, 1978.
