Dave Alvin in Fredericksburg

Dave Alvin is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist from Downey, California, who co-founded the roots-rock band The Blasters with his brother Phil Alvin. He wrote band staples including “Marie Marie,” “Border Radio” and “Long White Cadillac” before pursuing a solo career spanning roots rock, country, blues and folk. His best-known solo records include King of California and the Grammy-winning Public Domain: Songs from the Wild Land. After leaving the band in 1986, he built his solo concerts around his guitar playing and touring groups including the Guilty Men and the all-female Guilty Women. He later performed material from Common Ground on the road with Phil Alvin as the Alvin Brothers. The 2018 album Downey to Lubbock led to further joint touring with Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
