David Wax Museum in Charlottesville

David Wax Museum is an American folk group formed in Boston around singer and guitarist David Wax and fiddler and multi-instrumentalist Suz Slezak. The group plays what it calls “Mexo-Americana,” drawing on Mexican folk traditions and American roots music. Its albums include Everything Is Saved, Knock Knock Get Up, Guesthouse and Line of Light. David Wax Museum secured an appearance at Newport Folk Festival by winning a fan-voted competition. Its concerts center on Wax’s guitar and jarana and Slezak’s fiddle, accordion and quijada, presented either by the core pair or an expanded band. That instrumental core also shaped the group’s Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music.

Lowland Hum is an American indie-folk duo formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2013. Its members are married musicians Lauren and Daniel Goans. Their releases include Native Air, Four Sisters, Thin, Glyphonic, So Low and At Home. So Low reimagines Peter Gabriel’s album So, while At Home contains original material. On March 6, 2014, the duo performed a Tiny Desk Concert. In 2019, they developed the immersive live project Golden Hour with David Wax and Suz Slezak.
