Deana Carter is an American country singer-songwriter born in Nashville in 1966. She is best known for the 1996 album Did I Shave My Legs for This? and its songs “Strawberry Wine,” “We Danced Anyway” and “How Do I Get There.” Her father was Nashville session guitarist Fred Carter Jr. Carter performed at Farm Aid VII in 1994 after Willie Nelson invited her to the event. Following the success of her 1996 album, she took its country-pop songs on the road and later made repeated appearances at the Grand Ole Opry.
