Death From Above 1979 are a Canadian dance-punk and noise-rock duo formed in Toronto in 2001. Their 2004 debut album, You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, established their bass-and-drums sound through songs including “Romantic Rights,” “Blood on Our Hands” and “Black History Month.” After a farewell performance at Toronto’s Kool Haus in 2006, the duo returned to the stage in 2011, playing a surprise show at Austin’s Beauty Bar before appearing at Coachella. The concert lineup is the core duo: Jesse F. Keeler plays distorted bass and synthesizer, while Sebastien Grainger sings and plays drums.
Wine Lips are a Canadian garage-punk trio formed in Toronto in 2015 by singer-guitarist Cam Hilborn and drummer Aurora Evans. Their fuzz-heavy psychedelic rock is represented by the albums Stressor, Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party and Super Mega Ultra, as well as songs including “Eyes” and “Stimulation.” Wine Lips have toured through Canada, the United States and Europe, playing clubs and independent festivals. Their North American dates have included SXSW in Austin and a filmed live session at KEXP in Seattle.
