Artist
D'espairsRay was a Japanese visual kei band formed in Tokyo in 1999 by vocalist Hizumi, guitarist Karyu, bassist Zero and drummer Tsukasa. Their music drew on industrial rock, nu metal and heavy metal, and their studio albums include Coll:set, Mirror, Redeemer and Monsters. The band first performed outside Japan in Berlin and Paris in 2004, then toured Europe and North America. D'espairsRay played Wacken Open Air in 2006, appeared at J-Rock Revolution in Los Angeles in 2007 and joined the Taste of Chaos tour in 2008. After dissolving in 2011 amid Hizumi's persistent vocal-cord problems, the band reunited for a performance in 2014.
