Carnifex & Suffocation in Berlin

Carnifex is an American deathcore band formed in San Diego in 2005. Built around harsh vocals, down-tuned guitars and death-metal weight, the group became known through albums including Dead in My Arms, Hell Chose Me and Die Without Hope, as well as songs such as “Lie to My Face” and “Hell Chose Me.” Carnifex joined the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2010, appearing on a lineup that included Decapitated, The Faceless and All Shall Perish. The band later performed on the 2014 Mayhem Festival and, in 2022, co-headlined the Chaos & Carnage tour with Suicide Silence.

Suffocation is an American death metal band formed on Long Island, New York, in 1988. Their guttural vocals, abrupt rhythmic shifts and technically intricate guitar work are established on releases including the Human Waste EP and the albums Effigy of the Forgotten and Pierced from Within; “Liege of Inveracity” and “Infecting the Crypts” remain central songs in their catalogue. The 2018 Farewell Frank Tour marked the departure of longtime vocalist Frank Mullen and brought Suffocation together with Cattle Decapitation, Krisiun and Soreption. The band returned to North American venues on the 2022 Forces of Hostility tour, accompanied by Atheist, Soreption and Contrarian. Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore has hosted the band more than once. Their European festival appearances have also included Hellfest in Clisson and Wacken Open Air.
