Diego El Cigala in Barcelona

Diego El Cigala is a Spanish flamenco singer born in 1968, known for applying the phrasing of a cantaor to bolero, tango and salsa. His best-known recording is Lágrimas Negras, a collaboration with Cuban pianist Bebo Valdés. His later albums include Cigala & Tango and Indestructible. Diego El Cigala toured Lágrimas Negras with Bebo Valdés and performed the project at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2010, he recorded Cigala & Tango before an audience at Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires. He later toured the salsa repertoire of Indestructible with a Latin band. Away from his native Madrid, Diego El Cigala also performed at the Olympia in Paris and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
