Dire Straits in Potsdam

Dire Straits were a British rock band formed in London in 1977 by Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers. Mark Knopfler’s fingerpicked guitar and understated vocals shaped songs including “Sultans of Swing,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Money for Nothing” and “Walk of Life,” while Making Movies and Brothers in Arms became central albums in the band’s catalogue. The 1985–86 Brothers in Arms Tour took Dire Straits through arenas and stadiums, and the band also performed at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in 1985. They returned to the road for the On Every Street Tour in 1991–92, their final world tour, which ended at Estadio de La Romareda in Zaragoza.
