Dirk von Lowtzow in Osnabrück

Dirk von Lowtzow is a German singer, guitarist, lyricist and author, born in Offenburg in 1971. He co-founded the Hamburg indie-rock band Tocotronic in 1993 and is known as its lead vocalist and principal lyricist. The band’s central records include Digital ist besser, K.O.O.K. and Pure Vernunft darf niemals siegen; his books include Aus dem Dachsbau and Ich tauche auf. After Tocotronic formed, Dirk von Lowtzow began performing as the group’s singer and guitarist. His appearances under his own name have also included public readings built around Aus dem Dachsbau and Ich tauche auf. At Tocotronic concerts, he sings and plays guitar beside bassist Jan Müller and drummer Arne Zank.
