Dota in Bremen

Dota is the stage name of Berlin-born German singer-songwriter Dota Kehr. She first released music as Die Kleingeldprinzessin and later led Dota und die Stadtpiraten before adopting the shorter billing. Her German-language songs draw on folk, indie pop, jazz and bossa nova; key releases include Keine Gefahr, Die Freiheit and Kaléko, an album of settings of poems by Mascha Kaléko. Following the release of Kaléko, Dota brought the Dota singt Kaléko program to German-speaking theatres with her band. She later expanded that repertoire through In der fernsten der Fernen, a second collection based on Mascha Kaléko’s writing, while her concerts also retained songs from her own catalogue.
