About Dream Theater
Dream Theater is an American progressive-metal band formed in Boston in 1985, originally under the name Majesty, by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy. The band became widely known through “Pull Me Under” and the album Images and Words; Awake and the concept album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory further established its long-form writing and technical instrumentation.
The Metropolis 2000 tour presented Scenes from a Memory as a complete live work, and the band later released Live at Budokan, recorded in Tokyo in 2004. In 2006, its 20th-anniversary concert at Radio City Music Hall featured an orchestra during the second half and was released as Score.
The band recorded Live at Luna Park in Buenos Aires in 2012, while Distant Memories documented its 2020 concerts at London’s Eventim Apollo. Dream Theater has also returned repeatedly to São Paulo for headline concerts.
