Dub Spencer & Trance Hill are a Swiss band formed in Lucerne in 2003. They play instrumental dub shaped by reggae, psychedelic rock and spaghetti-western soundtracks. Their catalogue includes Nitro, the Clash reinterpretation The Clashification of Dub and William S. Burroughs in Dub, which sets the writer’s recorded voice inside the group’s productions. The band has carried its live dub setup through European clubs and onto stages at Fusion Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival. These performances established a long-running circuit beyond Switzerland while retaining the same ensemble-based approach heard on its records. The concert format is built around guitar, bass and drums, processed through real-time effects and mixing. Producer and engineer Umberto Echo has been central to that live dub treatment.
