Earth is an American band formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1989 by guitarist Dylan Carlson. The group plays slow, minimalist drone metal and instrumental rock, and is known for the sustained guitar tones of Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version and the sparse, country-tinged compositions of Hex; Or Printing in the Infernal Method and The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull.

Earth’s 2002 performance at the KRAAK Festival in Belgium was released as Living in the Gleam of an Unsheathed Sword, documenting the extended form of the band’s heavier early work. Earth played a European tour in 2006, documented on Live Europe 2006, and recorded another concert at Third Man Records in Nashville in 2016.
