Earth, Wind & Fire is an American band founded in Chicago in 1969 by drummer and songwriter Maurice White. The group plays funk, soul and R&B shaped by vocal harmonies and a prominent horn section. Its best-known recordings include “September,” “Shining Star,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “Let’s Groove,” as well as the album That’s the Way of the World. The Raise! Tour brought Earth, Wind & Fire to Oakland Coliseum Arena in 1981, where performances were filmed for the concert release Live in Oakland. The band later reunited several times with Chicago for the co-headlining Heart and Soul arena tours across North America. International festival appearances included Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 1997 and the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival in England in 2016.
