Eek-A-Mouse is a Jamaican reggae singer and deejay, born Ripton Hylton in Kingston in 1957. His high, elastic singjay delivery became closely associated with early dancehall, particularly through the album Wa-Do-Dem and songs including “Ganja Smuggling” and “Virgin Girl.” In 1982, Eek-A-Mouse performed a band-backed festival set in Jamaica that drew on material from Wa-Do-Dem. The performance was released as the concert album Live at Reggae Sunsplash.
