Elena Pinderhughes in Philadelphia

Elena Pinderhughes is an American jazz flutist, singer and composer born in Berkeley, California, in 1995. She began playing flute and singing at seven and recorded the 2005 album Catch 22 with her brother Samora Pinderhughes. Her credits include Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah’s Stretch Music, Ambrose Akinmusire’s The Imagined Savior Is Far Easier to Paint and Immanuel Wilkins’s The 7th Hand. In 2014, she toured with Adjuah and performed in his sextet at the Jazz Cafe. She later appeared with Herbie Hancock at the 2019 London Jazz Festival, then performed with Hancock and Lionel Loueke at the 2023 Monterey Jazz Festival.
