Eliane Elias in Arroyo Grande

Eliane Elias is a Brazilian pianist, singer, composer and arranger, born in São Paulo in 1960. Her music draws on jazz, bossa nova and samba, and her best-known recordings include the albums Made in Brazil and Dance of Time, as well as her interpretations of Antônio Carlos Jobim. At 17, she began performing and touring South America with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho. After moving to New York in 1981, she joined Steps Ahead and toured internationally with the jazz ensemble before establishing her own career as a bandleader. She has since played multi-night engagements at the Blue Note and appeared at London’s Ronnie Scott’s.
