Artist
Elida Almeida is a Cape Verdean singer-songwriter, born in Pedra Badejo in 1993, whose music draws on batuque, funaná, coladeira and morna alongside contemporary African pop. Her debut album, Ora Doci Ora Margos, introduced songs shaped by her life on Santiago and Maio; later releases include Kebrada and Gerasonobu. In the years after her debut, Elida Almeida toured beyond Cabo Verde and performed at WOMAD in England and Oslo World in Norway. She has also taken her full-band Cape Verdean repertoire to Festival du Bout du Monde in Brittany.
