Elton John in Mexico City

Elton John is an English singer, pianist and songwriter, born in Pinner in 1947, whose music spans piano-led pop and rock. His long songwriting partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin produced songs including “Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer” and “Rocket Man,” as well as the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. His 1970 engagement at the Troubadour introduced him to American concert audiences, and in 1975 he played two shows at Dodger Stadium. He later presented The Red Piano as a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, then carried Farewell Yellow Brick Road through arenas and stadiums before concluding the tour in Stockholm in 2023. At Live Aid in 1985, he performed at Wembley Stadium as part of the benefit concert’s British lineup. His 2023 headline appearance on the Pyramid Stage closed the Sunday programme at Glastonbury.
